Personal Care Attendant (PCA) - Assisted Living
The Assisted Living PCA provides direct personal care and daily living support to residents in an assisted living community. They assist with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene and meal assistance, and support for mobility.
They monitor residents well being, report changes to the nursing team, and help maintain safety and comfort; responsible for documenting care activities in resident charts.
Responsibilities- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene
- Support mobility and transfers, including positioning and ambulation
- Assist with meals and hydration as appropriate
- Monitor residents condition and report changes to licensed staff promptly
- Promote safety and fall prevention and maintain clean, comfortable living spaces
- Document care activities and observations in resident charts
- Support residents in social and recreational activities
- Encourage independence and person centered care planning
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of state approved PCA or CNA training.
Licensure:
No independent license required; training and competency assessments as per state and facility policy; CNA certification may be preferred.
Certifications:
- CPR/First Aid
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
- Medication aide training if allowed by state and setting
Experience or Skills:
Experience delivering personal care in assisted living or long term care; documentation in care notes; ability to support memory or mobility needs and collaborate with licensed staff.
Experience- Experience providing personal care and daily living assistance in assisted living or long term care
- Experience documenting in care plans and electronic records
- Experience supporting memory care or residents with cognitive impairment
- Bilingual abilities
- Experience in memory care or dementia care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Work in an assisted living facility with a resident population typically aged 65 and older. Interacts with nursing staff, activities teams, and families in a team based, person centered environment. Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays with documentation completed in resident records.
Environment can be fast paced with emphasis on safety, respect, and supportive care planning.
