Description

The HR Director provides leadership and coordination for the Human Resources function at Smugglers’ Notch Resort. Advises leadership and supervisors on employee relations, policy interpretation, and HR compliance matters while overseeing HR operations including recruitment, payroll and benefits administration, workers’ compensation, employee housing coordination, and HR systems. The Director serves as a working leader, providing strategic direction while remaining actively engaged in day-to-day HR operations and supporting departmental processes when needed to ensure responsive service to employees and managers.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and coordination across HR staff responsible for payroll, benefits, workers’ compensation, recruitment, housing coordination, and HR administration.
  • Establish consistent HR processes and documentation practices.
  • Foster collaboration across the HR team to ensure effective service to employees and managers.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers regarding employee relations matters, performance management, disciplinary action, and workplace conflict.
  • Conduct or oversee employee investigations and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain and interpret HR policies and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Perform required auditing with timeliness (EEOC, ACA, FLSA, 401K etc.) Assist with auditing insurance and 401k rosters.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and regulatory agencies when necessary.
  • Partner with resort leadership to anticipate staffing needs and workforce trends.
  • Support the development of recruitment strategies for domestic and international hiring programs.
  • Support employee engagement, training initiatives, and leadership development programs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a combination of comparable education and relevant experience.
  • Five years’ human resources management experience. SHRM or SPHR preferred but not required.
