About Us

Our Adult Skills Education Services programme takes a local, collaborative approach to tackling hidden unemployment.

We connect people with the right employment, skills, health and support services, helping those facing greater barriers to enter work, stay in work and progress in their careers.

Working alongside employers, training providers and community partners, you'll play an important role in helping participants realise their potential and supporting a more inclusive local economy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out initial assessments to understand participants' skills, experience, goals and barriers.
  • Help participants set realistic career goals and create personalised action plans.
  • Provide practical support with CVs, cover letters and job applications.
  • Deliver interview preparation and mock interviews.
  • Support effective job-search strategies, including online job boards, networking and social media.
  • Identify skills gaps and connect participants with training and development opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, motivation and encouragement throughout their journey.
  • Manage a caseload and monitor participant progress and outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with employers, training providers and partner organisations.
  • Make appropriate referrals to specialist services such as financial, counselling and education support.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and complete required documentation.
  • Keep up to date with local labour market trends, employment opportunities and relevant legislation.
  • Organise and deliver employment and career-focused workshops and seminars.
  • Advocate for participants and help resolve employment-related issues.
The Ideal Candidate Will

You will be a motivated, supportive and organised employment professional who can make a positive difference to people facing barriers to work.

You’ll bring
  • Experience supporting unemployed or employed participants to enter, retain or progress in work.
  • Experience in initial assessments, goal setting and personalised action planning.
  • Strong experience in CV writing, interview preparation, job searching and employability support.
  • Experience of career coaching, counselling, mentoring or guidance.
  • The ability to manage a caseload effectively while maintaining accurate records.
  • Excellent communication, listening, motivational and interpersonal skills.
  • The confidence to work with people from diverse backgrounds and with different needs.
  • Good digital skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel and online job-search tools.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work confidently with employers, partners, colleagues and external organisations.
  • An understanding of employment legislation, labour market trends, safeguarding and data protection.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for Adult and Community Learning and helping people achieve their potential.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as part of the selection process the successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced with children’s and adult’s barred list Disclosure & Barring Service check.
