The Hermitage Club is a private, member-owned club at Haystack Mountain in Southern Vermont’s Deerfield Valley. Behind that experience is a diverse workforce of year-round and seasonal employees, and we’re looking for a detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Associate to help make sure every one of them is paid accurately, on time, and supported through their benefits.

The Role

The Payroll & Benefits Associate supports the Human Resources and Finance teams in processing payroll, administering employee benefits, and maintaining accurate employee records in Paycom, our payroll and HRIS platform. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys precision, takes confidentiality seriously, and likes being a helpful resource for employees.

What You’ll Do Payroll
  • Process payroll in Paycom, including reviewing timecards, entering adjustments, and verifying hours, overtime, tips, gratuities, and seasonal bonuses
  • Audit payroll reports before and after each run to catch and correct discrepancies
  • Maintain employee pay rates, deductions, garnishments, and direct deposit information
  • Help manage the payroll impact of seasonal hiring and rehiring cycles, including onboarding and offboarding of seasonal staff
  • Answer employee questions about pay, timekeeping, and pay stubs, and help employees navigate Paycom’s self-service tools
  • Assist with year-end activities such as W-2 review and reconciliation
Benefits
  • Support benefits administration for eligible year-round employees, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and other programs
  • Process new enrollments, qualifying life events, and terminations in Paycom and with carriers
  • Assist with open enrollment preparation, communication, and data entry
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices against payroll deductions
  • Support COBRA, ACA tracking, and leave-of-absence documentation as needed
HRIS & Compliance
  • Keep employee records in Paycom accurate and up to date
  • Run and prepare standard reports for HR, Finance, and department managers
  • Help ensure compliance with federal and Vermont wage and hour, tax, and benefits regulations
  • Handle all employee information with strict confidentiality
Qualifications:

What You Bring
  • 2+ years of payroll and/or benefits administration experience
  • Hands-on experience with Paycom strongly preferred; experience with a comparable system (ADP, Paylocity, UKG, etc.) considered
  • Working knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions, and wage and hour rules
  • Experience with hourly, tipped, or seasonal work forces in hospitality, resort, or club environments is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and or Google Sheets
  • Clear, friendly communication skills and a service mindset
  • High level of discretion and integrity
  • FPC or CPP certification is a plus but not required
