NKHS is a Designated Agency contracted with the State of Vermont to provide the highest quality of service in the areas of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children and youth with serious emotional disabilities, and adults with mental health and substance use challenges. We serve the populations of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties through a wide variety of targeted programs for individuals of all ages.

NKHS has employees providing case management, community and home supports, residential care, psychiatry, medication management, therapy, vocational supports, school based counseling, emergency care, and respite services. Data Scientist

The Data Scientist plays a pivotal role in advancing organizational performance through data-informed decision-making and strategic analytics. This position supports operational excellence, quality improvement, and organizational effectiveness. The Data Scientist also provides leadership and oversight to the Data Analyst Team while promoting best practices in data management, statistical analysis, and a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Functions
  • Provide data-driven insights to improve decision-making across operations and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment of analytical efforts with organizational goals.
  • Design and implement automated data pipelines and reporting frameworks that streamline routine analysis, improve data access, and facilitate timely decision-making.
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, data-driven recommendations that support operational improvements and quality enhancement strategies.
  • Create dashboards and visualizations to display key metrics and trends.
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of best practices for data analysis, statistical inference, and data management to ensure consistent, high-quality outputs.
  • Share knowledge and insights with teams to promote a culture of data-driven decision-making across departments.
Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree required in Statistics, Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Three to five years of progressive experience in data analysis or related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SQL and a modern programming language suitable for data analysis such as R, Python, or Julia.
  • Experience producing effective data visualizations, including both static plots and dashboards, for diverse audiences.
  • Preference for candidates with experience using R as well as dashboarding and data visualization tools such as ggplot2, Plotly, and Shiny.
  • Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems as well as large administrative datasets.
  • Demonstrated experience with classical statistical methods (hypothesis testing, ANOVA, generalized linear models, multilevel modeling) as well as predictive modeling and machine learning methods.
  • Experience with program evaluation and impact assessment preferred, particularly in connection with non-profit or social impact organizations.

SALARY & BENEFITS
  • Annual salary: $81,600 - $110,400, depending on education and experience
