Description

Job Summary: Alliance Group is seeking an experienced Safety Manager based in Essex Junction, VT to join our growing team and lead our safety program to ensure every employee goes home safe each day. This position is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment for our employees, subcontractors, and clients by building a safety culture through collaborative experiences with project managers, site supervisors, and field personnel.

Additionally, this role is responsible for implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures and managing the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures, with a strong focus on OSHA compliance, training, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Reporting Activities and Documentation:
    • Serve as point person for all employee injury reporting and tracking
    • Lead thorough investigations into workplace injuries, documenting findings and identifying preventive measures to reduce the risk of future incidents.
    • Provide accurate reportable information from managers and employees on First Report of Injury (FROI) to Alliance Group's worker compensation carrier.
    • Follow up with injured parties to ensure they are following company procedures and policies before returning to work activities.
  • Safety Data Management and Reporting:
    • Monitor and evaluate the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures.
    • Collect and analyze safety data, including accident reports, near misses, and hazardous waste management records
    • Prepare comprehensive reports on safety and accident events, identifying trends and areas for improvement
    • Communicate safety policies, procedures, and updates to employees and subcontractors through meetings, toolbox talks, and other channels
  • Safety Event and Training Coordination & Management
    • Conduct safety training components for New Employee Orientation (reporting injuries, first aid stations, emergency procedures, etc.
    • Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, and the use of protective equipment.
    • Lead the Safety Committee working with site supervisors and project managers to ensure a best-in-class EMR through a combination of compliance, enforcement and collaboration.
    • Coordinate and organize the annual “Safety Day” events for all branches, ensuring its successful execution and participation from all relevant personnel
  • Inspections, Compliance and Proactive Safety Initiatives
    • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and work processes to identify unsafe conditions and practices.
    • Work with relevant stakeholders to implement safeguards and solutions to mitigate risks and enhance workplace safety.
    • Evaluate the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
    • Provide recommendations for improvements and coordinate implementation efforts with relevant departments.
    • Conduct regular inspections of job sites to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
Essential Qualifications and Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, or a related field required.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in construction safety or related field, with knowledge of field safety requirements and equipment required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industry safety standards required.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) certification preferred.
