JOB SUMMARY:
The KGH Spa and Health Club Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities, programs, and financial planning of the Grand Hotel Health Club and Grand Spa. This role is an active member of the lodging management team and reports directly to the Lodging Operations Manager.
Summary of
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Manage, plan, supervise the daily operation of health club and spa services including programs and facilities.
Interview, hire, schedule, and review work of staff. Process timekeeping. Monitor and measure all staff performance goals.
Ensure proper licenses and certifications are in place for all therapists, estheticians, and nail technicians, and business.
Oversee all spa retail services, including pricing and maintaining choice of services and inventory.
Work with the marketing department to generate and distribute spa brochures and any other printed collateral. Responsible for using as many avenues as possible to help promote all services. (check in, reservations, web site) for in-house and external guests.
Order and maintain inventory of supplies necessary for the health club, including gym equipment, retail merchandise, towels, products for services, etc. Supervise proper use of equipment by guests, owners and staff.
Assist with planning the budget. Meet or exceed goals set and work with budget for all areas of responsibility.
Supervise and carry out the maintenance of health club equipment and physical facilities, including cleaning/sanitization, general cleaning, equipment upkeep, etc.
Provides proper training in safety processes and procedures for staff.
Work closely with the KGH HOA to ensure a premier health club facility at the Grand Hotel- including equipment selection, maintenance and facility upkeep.
Offer recommendations on upgrades to the facilities, including capital planning.
Prepare various administrative/operations reports and records such as daily attendance, usage reports, sales and staffing reports.
Keep abreast of new developments, services and trends in the Spa and wellness field.
Supervise and carry out all pool cleaning, cleaning and sanitizing all spa equipment. Ensure proper balance of chemicals and supplies are maintained. Oversee (with the assistance of the maintenance department) the upkeep and maintenance of the pool and hot tubs.
Have a good understanding of pool and health club safety standards in accordance with the State of Vermont and local regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality management; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Broad base of technical knowledge and skills related to all functions carried out at the Spa, including massage, spa workshops and classes, mind-body-spirit integration, reservations, and spa desk reception. Must have a working knowledge of exercise and nutrition programs, including human anatomy, weight training and weight loss methods, aerobic exercise methods, gym equipment, pool maintenance, etc.
Some management experience preferred
Basic understanding of pool maintenance
Working knowledge of hotel cleaning practices and housekeeping safety practices, pool safety and equipment safety
General knowledge of basic first aid for the area, to recognize guests that may be in distress and seek assistance
