Gifford is seeking a dynamic Environmental Services Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight for our Environmental Services Department. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, providers, and staff throughout all of Giffords' campuses.
This position will manage the Environmental Services daily operations, staff, resources, training, and budgets while ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements and infection prevention standards. Acting as a subject matter expert in environmental services, the Environmental Services Manager will work independently and also collaborate across clinical and support departments to support top-tier patient care and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors.
The Environmental Services Manager has strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, and will prioritize competing demands and manage resources responsibly in a changing environment.
Key Responsibilities Include- Leadership & Operations:
Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate staff. Handle hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement to foster a positive team environment. - Infection Prevention & Hygiene, Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure department operations comply with OSHA, federal, and state regulations, Oversee the proper handling, storage, transport, and disposal of regulated medical waste and hazardous materials. - Budget & Resource Management
- Quality Improvement:
Establish performance metrics, identify operational gaps, and provide targeted staff training to enhance efficiency, safety, and value. - Customer Service:
Promptly resolve cleanliness or environmental concerns to promote an exceptional experience for patients and visitors.
- Associate's degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, facilities, or a related field (healthcare/hospital experience strongly preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising or managing a team or department preferred.
- Solid understanding of healthcare disinfection, infection prevention, regulated medical waste, budgeting, and scheduling preferred.
- License/Certification: T-CHEST training (Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician Train-Trainer Program) required at hire or within 12 months of employment.
