Summary Of Role

Position:
Maintenance Technician (Night shift).

Location:

Essex Junction site Fab 9, a 200mm semiconductor manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include monitoring, sustaining, and improving equipment and processes in the assigned area, working closely with production team members and area engineers. The role requires performing preventive and corrective maintenance on tool sets, troubleshooting and resolving equipment‑related issues, and communicating updates on equipment status to Lead Tech and/or Engineer.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks.
  • Work safely and responsibly in line with all FAB9 EHS&S policies.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Support and engage in training activities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment as required per operating procedures.
  • Monitor, control, and test semiconductor equipment for manufacturing readiness.
  • Recover equipment from process interruptions, complete event documentation, and communicate end‑of‑shift pass‑downs.
  • Use time management to prioritize and plan daily work and scheduled activities.
Physical Capacity Demands
  • Stand >85% of a 12‑hour shift.
  • Walk on uneven surfaces >85% of a 12‑hour shift.
  • Lift, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds periodically; lift equipment/tools >50lbs requires two‑person lift.
  • Manipulate hand tools and small hardware >85% of shift (excluding breaks).
  • Climb vertical ladders, bend at waist, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach up/over, crawl >85% of shift (excluding breaks).
  • Use computer (typing, visual screen time) >85% of shift.
  • Work in cleanroom per semiconductor protocol; wear required cleanroom clothing >10 hours/day.
  • Wear upgraded PPE per safety procedures.
  • Comply with OSHA & NIOSH CFR  and use appropriate respirator for extended periods (>2 hours).
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform all activities safely and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Degree (or equivalent).
  • Experience:

    Electrical or mechanical, with one of the following:
  • 2‑year technical degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 2 years of relevant military experience and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 8 years of relevant experience (e.g., automotive repair, BOCES, HVAC, aviation, cable installation, computer routing, telecommunications, electrical work, etc.).
  • Travel:
    Minimal.
  • Language:
    English (written & verbal).
  • Basic reading, writing, and computer navigation skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook).
  • Work in cleanroom environment and stand for extended period during a 12‑hour shift.
  • Lift equipment/tools >50lb requires two‑person lift.
  • Flexible and willing to work any shift (alternating weeks day or night).
Preferred Functions – Skills
  • Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and react to out‑of‑control conditions.
  • Develop and enhance operating procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and skill development.
  • Read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, electrical diagrams.
  • Use basic hand tools and quality workmanship principles.
  • Apply structured problem‑solving techniques.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in engineering technology, military equivalency, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ Years of direct experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
