Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift Vermont Creamery

As Creamery Supervisor, you will be the driving force behind efficient and safe production operations. You'll lead a team on the manufacturing floor, ensuring production schedules are met, quality standards are upheld, and safety protocols are followed. People leadership, effective communication, quality decision making, organization, reliability & follow-through are what's needed in the role. The Creamery Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and is the chief steward of our workplace culture with the frontline.

Salary Range $70,800.00 - $88,500.00

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety & Quality Assurance

* Leads with a safety and quality mindset, inspiring a safety and quality culture on the production floor.

* Complies with all safety & quality assurance policies, procedures, & programs.

* Reports all safety violations, incidents, and injuries to EHS immediately.

* Trains, develops, and monitors the safety & quality assurance practices of employees through one-on-one development, coaching, performance reviews, meetings, and disciplinary action.

* Attends safety committee meetings, quality lunch & learns, and other required meetings and trainings when scheduled during shift hours.

* Maintains a clean, orderly, and food safe production area. Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and other food safety protocols.

* Understands that maintaining product quality is critical. Ensures teams is meeting the standards for first pass quality, timely completion of paperwork, work accuracy for traceability, and other product quality requirements.

* Identifies and reports all potentially non-conforming products and equipment to the Quality Assurance Department.

* Completes personal monthly safety engagement and ensures monthly team safety engagement completion.

* Collaborates with EHS and Quality Assurance team members to support investigations, reporting, and other needs from co-departments.

Leadership Expectations

* Supervises and directs the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of team members.

* Addresses issues directly, using respectful and empathetic language, and holding firm to agreed-upon plans and policies.

* Prioritizes, organizes, and delegates assignments based on production schedule and business needs. Provides support on the production line to help the team as needed.

* Empowers and coaches the team leads to make effective decisions and provides input into production related decisions.

* Maintains consistent, fair, and equitable administration of disciplinary actions and communicates with the Operations Manager and Human Resources regarding all disciplinary problems with employees. Consistently utilizes the company's performance development process including corrective action plans, reviews, and appreciations using Legen Dairy Awards and Quality Spot Awards.

* Coordinates with team leads and shift safety coordinator to train new employees during onboarding.

* Champions and motivates the team to achieve departmental and company goals.

* Communicates with clarity and fosters a positive work environment.

Production

* Oversees the production and processing of dairy products to meet customer specifications and business needs.

* Manages resources and coordinates staffing needs to meeting daily production demand.

* Organizes and plans work for timely completion without sacrificing quality, safety, or employee morale.

* Reports on deficiencies, problems, variances, and schedule changes to Operations Manager, Production Planner, and Plant Manager.

* Leads daily team huddle. Communicates relevant business information, project updates, safety and quality topics.

* Collaborates with team leads and cross-departmental subject matter experts to evaluate trade-offs and make quality decisions.

* Possesses the ability to understand and evaluate capacities of the equipment & team to make recommendations and adjustments to achieve production goals.

* Communicates with other shifts on production status, issues, and other relevant information.

* Participates in quarterly cycle counts.

* Develops a fair staffing schedule for OT and holidays.

Equipment

* Possesses the ability to operate equipment safely and proficiently.

* Supports training employees to safely achieve optimal production potential of equipment.
