Summary of Role
Global Foundries in Essex, VT is seeking a Central Utility Plant Technician to operate and perform planned and corrective maintenance on a variety of systems supporting site heating and cooling. The Technician will work a 5/2 schedule (M‑F, 3rd or 2nd shift), with rotational weekend/holiday coverage as needed. Night shift is eligible for a 12.5% shift differential for 3rd shift and a 10% differential for 2nd shift.
This role will be fully onsite at the 200mm semiconductor manufacturing facility in Essex Junction, VT.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- Perform mechanical system maintenance and repairs
- Ensure proper system operations
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks
- Provide line support to customers in manufacturing, offices, or labs and assist with equipment installs/upgrade projects
- Work areas include: building maintenance, gas services, high voltage/electrical, and chemical operations
- Maintain a high emphasis on safety, equipment reliability, and environmental rules and regulations
- Work collaboratively in a team environment with a focus on customer satisfaction
- Perform all activities safely and responsibly and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and associated programs
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager
- Education:
high school degree or equivalent - Experience:
minimum 3‑4 years of experience with mechanical systems - Experience in one or more of the following areas: boiler, high‑temperature hot water, chillers, compressed air
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and technical aptitude
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain equipment efficiently without disrupting operation
- Familiarity with computers and fluency in Microsoft 365 programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Travel: minimal
- Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
- Physical capacity: lift at least 50 lbs.; stand/walk up to 8 hours; wear required protective equipment
- Scheduling flexibility: occasional weekend coverage required
- 5+ years of mechanical and/or electrical systems operations and maintenance
- Associate degree in HVAC or an electronics/mechanical field
- Experience with industrial or commercial systems
- Understanding of system design parameters, safety and environmental shutdown scenarios, and electronic control of equipment
- Project management skills, including the ability to innovate, execute solutions, and navigate ambiguity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
$43,100.00 – $70,600.00. The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
