Role SummaryBased in Essex, VT, this position is a Chemical System Maintenance, Deionized Water, and Operations Principal Technician on first shift (M‑F, 7am‑3:30pm). The role reports to Dustin Nuhfer and is fully onsite, requiring occasional rotating holiday/weekend coverage. It involves leading teams and overseeing chemical handling for a 200mm manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities (Essential)- Oversee daily operations and lead teams across four shifts to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient chemical handling.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical leadership to maintain system operation.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on chemical supply systems, blending units, reverse osmosis, ion exchange resin, filtration, and other support systems.
- Respond to and troubleshoot system alarms and controls.
- Execute mechanical field work on filters, resin vessels, UV lights, pumps, valves, tanks, tubing, piping, and controls.
- Lead and coordinate improvement projects that increase safety, continuous operations, and organizational capability.
- Collaborate within a team focused on customer satisfaction.
- Perform all activities safely and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
- Complete any additional duties assigned by the manager.
- Associate degree in engineering, technology, or related field.
- Minimum 7–8 years of experience in a related mechanical or maintenance field.
- Schedule flexibility, including weekend coverage.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Physical capacity to lift 30 lbs and wear a respirator.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration across teams.
- Ability to wear a cleanroom suit and appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and operate in confined spaces for maintenance.
- Fluency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, Copilot, etc.).
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field.
- 8+ years’ experience and/or education in facilities systems such as water treatment, water purification, HVAC, chilled water, glycol chilled water, compressed air, chemical distribution, and control systems.
- Project management skills to innovate and execute solutions that matter.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
