Sanitation Technician

Butternut Mountain Farm is seeking a Sanitation Technician to support safe, high-quality maple production in our manufacturing facility. In this hands-on role, you will clean, sanitize, and maintain processing equipment, production lines, and food-contact surfaces to meet strict food safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include mixing and using cleaning chemicals safely, completing sanitation schedules and records, supporting changeovers, and assisting with inspections.

You'll work closely with production and quality teams in a collaborative, values-based environment focused on sustainability, integrity, and Vermont agricultural heritage.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize production equipment, floors, drains, and food-contact surfaces to meet company and regulatory standards.
• Prepare, handle, and store cleaning and sanitizing chemicals safely following SOPs and safety guidelines.
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed for deep cleaning and inspections.
• Follow sanitation schedules, complete logs, and support pre-operational inspections.
• Assist with production changeovers, allergen control, and line washdowns.
• Inspect work areas to identify sanitation or safety issues and report or correct them promptly.
• Use required PPE and follow safety procedures, including chemical handling and LOTO awareness.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to support audits and continuous improvement.
• Operate cleaning tools and equipment such as foaming units, floor scrubbers, and pressure washers.
• Help maintain an organized, clean facility in line with Butternut Mountain Farm's quality and sustainability standards.
