DescriptionThe Campus Sustainability Teamis VTSU Castleton's Cammpusnameforthemany effortstoreducethe college'scarbonfootprintandworktoward asustainablefuture. Sustainability isamajorgoalandthisisexhibitedthroughoutcampus withourvarious sustainable facilities,solar panels,micro-wind turbines,electric carchargingstation,and sustainability campaigns.
Students are anintegralpartofthe
Green Campus Initiative .We cannot gogreenwithout their input,participation,and enthusiasm. Mustlive on campus & meet at least once per semester with the Residence Life staff.
Eco Repsareamajorassettothe Green Campus Initiative by actingasaliaisonbetweenthecampus,the residents,and everythingthatisgreen. Eco Repswillhelpfosterthatinput,participation,andenthusiasmamongstudentsvia facilitation and promoteeducationalprogrammingaswellasinformalmeetings and discussions.
Theywill alsoworkalongside
RAs withinthe halls.
Eco Repswillplayavitalroleinthecampusrecycling program,alargesuccessofthe
Green Campus Initiative . Ecoreps are paida modest stipendperacademicsemester,fortheirefforts.
- Must live on campus & meet at least once per semester with the Residence Life staff
- Participate in weekly recycling in designated campus locations
- Inventory recycling bins in designated campus locations
- Record amount of trash and recycling from designated locations
- Assess the recycling practices in your designated campus locations
- Plan & implement one green program per year individually, or with other Eco Reps (2 small programs per semester or 1 large program per year)
- Work with CA to publicize green campaigns/events facilitated by the Campus Sustainability Team and Sustainability Club
- Assess and propose a plan to enhance recycling in a minimum of one residence hall (recommended)
- Liaison between students and Campus Sustainability Team for student needs/ideas.
- Other tasks as needed.
