Certified Nurse Midwife

The Obstetrics, Gynecology & Midwifery Services at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is seeking an experienced and passionate Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) for a rural setting. The CNM will work closely with the OBGYNs and midwives, fostering a supportive environment.

In addition to women’s health and family planning services, our midwives provide 24‑hour on‑call coverage for midwifery caseload patients. Deliveries occur in our birth center on the same floor as the clinic. We emphasize physiologic birth and patient choice to achieve excellent outcomes.

Nursing staff provide 1:1 support for water labor and birth, nitrous oxide, intrathecal, or VBAC options. The facility features spacious labor and delivery rooms, a comfortably equipped call room suite, and full‑time lactation counseling.

NVRH operates the state’s first Baby Friendly®-designated birth center, recognized by the World Health Organization.

Position includes clinic days plus shared calls.

NVRH is located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.

• Minimum of three years of experience as a certified nurse midwife, preferably in a hospital setting
• Nurse midwifery certification
• Current Vermont RN and APRN license (or ability to obtain)
• Current Vermont DEA (or ability to obtain)
• BLS through the American Heart Association
• Insurability
