Location: West Burke

This opportunity allows you to enhance your career in perioperative nursing by gaining invaluable exposure to diverse surgical teams, leadership styles, and best practices in a critical access hospital environment. By cross-training in multiple perioperative roles-including circulating, scrubbing, and PACU care-you'll expand your clinical skills and strengthen your resume for future roles in both rural and urban settings.

Schedule:
  • Travelers start on Wednesdays.
  • Orientation week for 48-hour contracts will be 36 hours due to midweek start.
  • Participation in on-call rotation: one night per week and every fourth weekend, with a required response time of 30 minutes when on call.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive perioperative care through all surgical phases: pre-op, intra-op, and PACU recovery.
  • Serve as circulator, scrub nurse, and PACU RN; cross-training is available to support your skill growth.
  • Ensure patient safety by adhering to AORN standards, accurate documentation, and surgical safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality care.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program.
  • Active Vermont or multi-state RN license.
  • Minimum two years' perioperative nursing experience.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple perioperative functions.
