Our mission at the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital (VPCH) is to improve the health and well‑being of Vermont’s most vulnerable populations. We have immediate openings for experienced Registered Nurses on all shifts. Nurses function as fully integrated members of a multidisciplinary team while providing excellent psychiatric nursing care.

- Full retirement eligibility after 20 years of service in eligible positions, recognizing the challenges of front‑line mental health work.
The step 1 rate for pay grade 23 will be $42.08 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $65.70 per hour as of July 12, 2026.

Environmental FactorsDuties are primarily performed in a clinical setting and may require travel off‑site. The position may expose staff to communicable diseases, blood‑borne pathogens, physically or verbally violent patients, and other stressful situations. Overtime, evenings, nights, weekends, and extended shifts may be required as the need arises.
Minimum Qualifications- Possession of, or eligibility for, licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont or eligibility to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi‑state license AND two (2) years or more of professional nursing experience.
- OR possession of, or eligibility for, licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont or eligibility to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi‑state license AND one (1) year or more of experience as an RN I with the State of Vermont.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
