Surgical Services Nurse

Responsibilities

Assesses and treats human responses to actual and potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of care supportive or restorative of life and well-being. Executes medical regimens prescribed by a licensed physician, dentist, or other licensed health care provider in accordance with NYS Education Department and NYS Department of Health regulations. Adheres to current Kaleida policies and standards of practice.

• Current NYS registration as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) required upon hire and must be maintained thereafter.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of hire and must be maintained thereafter.
• One (1) year of critical care/telemetry experience within 3 years, preferably in PACU, Ambulatory Surgery Unit, or Surgical Care Unit.
• Experience in Operating Room (OR) is preferred; first preference for OR experience, second preference Labor & Delivery/C-section, and neonatal or pediatric experience if relevant.
• American Heart Association ACLS (All Sites) and/or American Academy of Pediatrics or American Heart Association PALS for patients under 10 years of age or 38 kg within 12 months of hire/transfer (for those in OCH only).
• Preadmission testing (cc 10101) surgical services experience preferred.

• Shift 2 schedule: 1:30 pm – 9:30 pm.
• Onsite work arrangement.
