RN Staff-Inpatient-Med/Surg
The RN Staff-Inpatient-Med/Surg position is located in Nursing Service at the WRJ location. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week. Included but are not limited to:
- Manages acute and chronic illness states using whole health concepts and transformative nursing modalities.
- Ability to maneuver and document in an electronic health record (EHR) Flexible to float to additional patient care areas as needed.
- Maintains a caring and safe environment, coordinating the care across settings and among caregivers.
- Safely administers medications and assesses response to medications.
- Adapts treatments, procedures, and equipment based on population specific patient needs.
- Performs ongoing cardiac monitoring for patients with acute and chronic health conditions.
- Demonstrates cardiac rhythm recognition, detects cardiac arrhythmias, understands arrhythmia significance, recognizes symptoms, and anticipates or initiates appropriate nursing measures.
- Performs ongoing assessments, noting changes in condition, and provides appropriate interventions.
- Performs emergent care in acute/crisis situations.
- Active participant of the facility Hospital Emergency Response Team (HERT).
- Implements health promotion and prevention interventions.
- Assists veterans in the attainment of optimal levels of functioning through rehabilitation.
- Hospice care: provides supportive measures for the dying patient and significant others.
- Communicates and interacts appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient/employee information electronically, verbally, and written.
- Works and functions within a safe manner including infection control and operation of equipment.
- Integrates and applies pertinent aspects of the Medical Center performance improvement programs into his/her professional practice.
- Flexible, able to rotate to other assignments as needed and able to adjust to ever-changing work environment.
Work Schedule:
12 hour shifts, day/night rotation, holidays and weekends, after orientation
