Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg, Saint Johnsbury Center, Vermont, United States

Start date:

10/28/2026 | Duration: 13 weeks | Weekly pay: 1,832 – 1,871 USD | Guaranteed hours: 36 | Shift: Night 7pm–7am | Three 12-hour shifts

Travel - Temporary Assignment in a rural, critical access hospital setting. The unit cares for primarily adult medical/surgical patients with occasional pediatric cases. This is not a pediatric-only assignment. You will coordinate patient care across inpatient medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and pediatric encounters within the Med/Surg service line, under the nursing process framework.

  • Onboarding/credentialing:
    Credentialing requirements coordinated with onboarding ahead of start
Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care for adults, with occasional pediatric patients, across a general Med/Surg unit
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care using the Nursing Process; document findings and care plans
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately; monitor for adverse effects and respond to changes in patient condition
  • Collaborate with the Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, and Nursing Supervisor to coordinate care, ensure patient safety, and support staffing needs
  • Support discharge planning, patient education, and referrals as part of holistic care
  • Maintain infection control practices, standard precautions, and safe medication administration during night shifts
Requirements
  • Licensure:
    Current Vermont RN or multi-state RN licensure
  • Certifications:

    BLS (American Heart Association) and ACLS required

    Experience:

    Minimum 3 years of acute care experience;
    Meditech experience preferred
  • Skills:

    Ability to manage care for adult and occasional pediatric patients within a Med/Surg setting, using the Nursing Process
  • Additional:
    Flu shot required (no exceptions); able to work night shift and meet on-site credentialing and onboarding timelines
  • Note:

    This assignment is not pediatric-only; submit RNs prepared to care for a mixed adult/pediatric population
