Job Summary
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to provide exceptional nursing care primarily to adult patients with occasional pediatric cases on a general Medical/Surgical unit in a rural critical access hospital setting. The RN will coordinate comprehensive medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and pediatric care, utilizing the Nursing Process to make critical decisions while addressing patients' physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental needs.
The role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and leadership, ensuring holistic and compassionate care in a dynamic and supportive environment.
- Provide skilled nursing care to adult and occasional pediatric patients in a general Med/Surg unit.
- Coordinate patient care across medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, and swing bed services.
- Conduct patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
- Utilize the Nursing Process to make critical clinical decisions.
- Collaborate closely with the Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, Nursing Supervisor, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ensure holistic care addressing physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical activities.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience.
- Current Registered Nurse license in Vermont or multi-state licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rural hospital environment.
- Experience with Meditech electronic health record system.
- Prior experience in a rural or critical access hospital setting.
- Night shift position primarily caring for adults with occasional pediatric patients.
- Work in a rural critical access hospital with no public transportation; proximity to airport is approximately two hours away.
- Flu vaccination is mandatory with no exceptions.
- Collaborative work environment reporting to Unit Director and nursing leadership.
- Night shift schedule in a 25-bed facility's general Med/Surg unit.
- Shift assignments coordinated with Clinical Nurse Lead and Nursing Supervisor.
