American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Telemetry night shift position requiring Charge RN experience and prior travel assignment history.

• Acute Med Surg unit within a 35-bed critical access community hospital
• 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds plus a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1 to 4/5 with an average daily census of 22
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required, with holiday coverage as needed
• On-call required for this position
• May float between Acute Rehab and Med Surg and to any unit within scope of practice
• Uses Cerner EMR

• Active VT RN license or Compact license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification through American Heart Association
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg and Rehab experience required
• Charge RN experience required
• Minimum 3 months of previous travel assignment experience required
• BSN preferred
• Must have own vehicle due to lack of public transportation in the area
• Skills checklist for Medical Surgical nursing, current within 1 year, required for consideration
• At least 1 supervisory-signed reference from within the past two years of employment required

• Coordinates total nursing care for patients and participates in patient and family teaching
• Provides nursing leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and patient care team personnel
• May be asked to serve as a backup Charge Nurse
• No block scheduling accommodations will be considered for this assignment
• All scheduling requests must be submitted at time of profile submission; requests made after offer will not be approved
• No more than 5 days of RTO will be accepted during the assignment
• Must work two full holiday blocks if scheduled:
  Thanksgiving Day through the following weekend, Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and the following weekend, and New Year's Eve through New Year's Day and the following weekend
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this assignment
• Call-offs must be communicated to the unit supervisor at least 1.5 hours in advance
• After 3 call-offs, contract may be eligible for termination at the facility's discretion
