Pay Range: $17 - 20/hour

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm (part-time positions available). Weekend work may be required. Hours might vary due to weather

Market Garden Seasonal Staff Position

The Market Garden is seeking a motivated individual to join our team for the 2026 growing season. We operate a 7-acre certified organic market garden that produces mixed vegetables, herbs, berries, flowers, and eggs. We work in a production-based setting, but serve as a resource for the educational programs at the Farm. Our products are sold at our year round farm store and to our seasonal on site restaurant as well as donated to the community.

What

You’ll Do
  • The Market Garden Seasonal Staff will participate in most aspects of vegetable and fruit production, mushroom cultivation, animal husbandry (layer chickens), and in supporting the farm’s educational programming.
  • Help complete daily chicken chores and garden work, including but not limited to: planting, cultivating, hand weeding, trellising, harvesting, washing/packing/delivering produce and eggs, soil and bed prep, record-keeping, irrigating, operating machinery, and pest management.
  • Provide support to the Farms education and public programs, including summer camps, school groups, and other visiting groups of all ages.
  • Articulate market garden goals and the farm's mission to all visiting groups and tours.
  • Help maintain equipment, buildings, greenhouses, irrigation, and landscape.
  • Support a continuous effort to build and sustain a diverse and welcoming working and learning environment for all program participants, guests, and staff.
Core Qualifications
  • Experience with operating hand and power tools.
  • Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team.
  • Comfortable communicating in person with students and visitors at the garden.
  • Committed to translating the values of equality into action as we foster a welcoming working and learning environment for all program participants, guests, and staff.
Additional Valued Qualifications
  • Experience with field production of mixed vegetables and animal husbandry preferred but not required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Physical and mental capacity to work long, hard days that often include bending and repetitive motions.
  • Work effectively and efficiently in varied weather conditions.
  • Moving while carrying items that weigh up to 60 pounds unassisted.
  • Operate other hand tools and mechanical equipment using safety precautions.
