Arborist Trainee / Climber – Transmission

Richmond, VT. Lucas Tree Experts is hiring motivated individuals to join our team.

Transmission crews work off‑road on utility rights‑of‑way, removing and maintaining vegetation to protect the power grid. The ideal candidate will be self‑motivated and willing to learn all aspects of the trade: felling, climbing, rigging, equipment operation, and vegetation management.

No experience in the tree industry is required. We provide free on‑the‑job training, including CDL instruction, and cover licensing and certifications to advance your career.

• Manual removal of vegetation from work areas
• Pesticide application
• Operation of forestry equipment (skidders, mowers, chainsaws, ATVs)
• Line clearance, pruning, and removals
• Physical labor in varied weather and terrain

• Must be able to work 45 hours per week.
• Minimum age 18 with a high‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Current, valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Physically capable of walking on uneven ground and carrying up to 75 lbs.
• Willingness to work at varying heights and operate equipment safely.
• Willingness to obtain a CDL A or B license if required.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications for career growth.
• Must successfully complete a post‑offer physical, drug screen, background check, and motor‑vehicle check.
