The Rental Technician 1 plays a vital role in the rental shop by ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the rental fleet. This position assists guests with selecting, fitting, and using rental equipment for skiing, snowboarding, or biking. This position focuses on providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the safety and quality of rental equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized shop environment.
Summaryof
Key Responsibilities
- Assist guests with rental paperwork, ensuring forms are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Size, fit, and issue appropriate rental equipment, such as skis, snowboards, bikes, helmets, and other safety gear, based on the guest’s height, weight, and ability.
- Adjust and inspect equipment, including ski bindings and bike components, to ensure safe operation.
- Provide instructions and guidance on equipment use, skiing or biking techniques, and trail or slope recommendations tailored to guests’ skill levels.
- Operate the point-of-sale system for rental transactions.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections of rental equipment to ensure it is in excellent condition.
- Accept returned equipment, check for damage, and perform necessary cleaning or repairs.
- Maintain a tidy and organized shop environment, replenishing supplies and performing general maintenance as needed.
- Answer customer questions about equipment, resort amenities, trails, and slopes, and elevate complex issues to appropriate staff members.
- Support special events, assist other departments, and contribute to creating a fun, exciting, and memorable experience for guests.
- Uphold resort hospitality standards and etiquette when interacting with guests and team members.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 20 lbs frequently.
- General knowledge of ski, snowboard, and/or bike equipment is desirable.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Friendly, courteous demeanor with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and engage with guests in a positive and professional manner.
- Attention to detail for accurately completing paperwork and inspecting equipment.
- Strong team-oriented attitude with the flexibility to assist across various roles and tasks.
- Basic understanding of outdoor sports equipment operations, handling, and maintenance.
- Reliable, adaptable, and committed to ensuring guest safety and satisfaction.
