Job Details Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Learn and develop a working knowledge of all store products (different vendors, special details, PLU codes, delivery pack size, weighted vs each item, etc.).
- Maintain a working knowledge with the use of company software: RORC, Excel, and any other software the Company may use or adopt in the future.
- Create, update, and maintain all product files in the inventory software; become an expert in all product classifications and categories such as EBT, WIC, soda tax, employee discount, etc. Also ensure product costs, retail and sales numbers and programs are set up correctly and product cards are detailed appropriately.
- Perform all system/vendor downloads and review them for price changes, errors, or custom overrides that management wishes to make.
- Check in all incoming vendors during your shift; verify product against invoices/packing slips, confirm product integrity, check product temperatures as needed for quality, build positive rapport with vendors, and direct traffic in and out of the backroom.
- Process invoices with the inventory software performing necessary updates. Sign all invoices legibly to verify payments, and write the department on the invoice that accounting should use to match the department coded in the system.
- Follow up with departments to ensure all invoices are transferred to accounting in a timely manner.
- Process credits with delivery personnel and call in credits to vendors as needed.
- Assist with delivery breakdown and product sorting for quicker shelf stocking.
- Assist with product stocking to shelves as needed.
- Operate machinery including a baler, compactor, and hand-jack safely and properly.
- Update and assist co-workers in creating signs and tags when needed; sort tags and hang them as directed.
- Keep the backroom organized, clean, and efficient; this includes making bails, managing U-boats, back stock, cleaning supplies, returns, credits, etc.
- Communicate and coordinate with outside vendors regarding pricing updates.
- Setup and maintain retaile on direct vendor items, including monthly price changes and promotions.
- Work with the Store Director to ensure that all store products are scan‑verified weekly and that any errors are fixed immediately and correctly.
- Utilize electronic transmission processes to receive and process host communication and sort tags.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher) and other reporting systems.
- Strong data entry skills with accuracy and efficiency.
- Attention to detail to verify deliveries, inspect product quality, and ensure accurate record‑keeping.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain focus in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced receiving environment.
- Product knowledge of direct store delivery (DSD) items, including proper handling, storage, and rotation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with vendors, customers, employees, and management.
- Basic math skills.
- 1 year of retail experience preferred.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, carrying, and pulling of weights between 20‑40 lbs, with occasional lifting over 40 lbs.
- Standing for extended periods of time (85% of the time), walking (10%), and sitting (5%).
- Frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching above and below waist level.
- Working in various temperature‑controlled environments, including:
- Freezers (extreme cold)
- Receiving areas with occasional humidity or wet flooring
- Outside temperatures (2% of the time)
- Hard tile/cement flooring with anti‑fatigue mats available.
- Required:
Slip‑resistant footwear and various cleaning supplies. - Machines, tools, and equipment used: pallet jack, box cutters, baler.
