The per‑diem role is primarily used to fill open shifts when our full‑time officers take time off for one reason or another. We are strictly interested in candidates who have a considerable amount of time in their schedules. Listed below are some of the conditions we look to meet when hiring someone as a per‑diem officer. If you feel you can meet most of these requirements, you would be a great candidate for the position.

• Must be available to work all shifts:
  Day: 06:30 – 15:00
  Evening: 14:30 – 23:00
  Night: 22:30 – 07:00
  
  * Some variable shifts may also arise
• Weekend availability is required
• Availability to cover shifts when supervisors contact you via call or text, with a prompt response (yes or no) appreciated
• Work hours are not guaranteed and can vary significantly. You may be asked to cover a full week during staff absences, or go several days without being scheduled

Receiving general direction from the Security Operations Manager, the officer will work to provide a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors, and employees by enforcing hospital policies, watching for and reporting safety hazards, and providing protective service and response for protection of people and property.

• Conduct floor patrols and security camera monitoring within the hospital and campus buildings, giving special attention to areas where problems have occurred.
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Conduct preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential criminal misconduct.
• Keep Assistant Lead and Lead Security Officer informed.
• Maintain all hospital issued uniforms and equipment.
• Actively take part in safety and security quality improvement initiatives.
• Create safety awareness among patients, visitors, and staff.
• Respond to all non‑medical codes and requests for assistance.
• Monitor and patrol internal and external campus buildings, nearby MGP locations, on foot, in vehicle, and/or via security cameras.
• Check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
• Provide one‑on‑one observation of behavioral patients as needed.
• Preserve order and enforce regulations and directives for personnel, visitors, and premises.
• Daily lock and unlock numerous buildings on campus.
• Issue and manage temporary employee badges.
• Collect, log, and secure patient valuables; collect lost and found items and attempt to locate owners.
• Greets and logs emergency department visitors; issue visitor badges; provide after‑hour visitation escorts.
• Monitor campus parking lots for safety and enforce parking policy.
• Investigate reports of vehicle or property damage and provide motor vehicle assist to staff and visitors.
• Keep daily activity log of all activities and complete incident reports when required.
• Demonstrate ability to evaluate situations quickly and take appropriate action to defuse situations and prevent injury and property loss.
• Show integrity, compassion, and respect when working with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Meet CVMC attendance expectations as outlined in the attendance policy.
• Protect privacy and confidentiality of patients, families, staff, and organization.
• Complete all required competencies, annual mandatory training, and adhere to the CVMC code of conduct.
• Use CVMC resources appropriately (phones, emails, internet use, photocopies, supplies).
• Perform job in a safe manner as defined in applicable CVMC policies, including universal precautions, use of PPE, safe lifting, ergonomics, and hazardous materials handling.
• Enforce hospital policy and notify appropriate personnel of infractions.
• Act as first responder to HAZMAT incidents following CVMC procedures.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or requested.
