Position SummarySugarbush Ski Patrol is seeking Paid Ski Patrollers for the 2026‑2027 Winter Season. Patrollers maintain a safe alpine environment by educating guests, providing pre‑hospital emergency medical care, and ensuring swift evacuation when required. This seasonal position pays $20 per hour and requires expert skiing and riding skills across varied terrain and conditions.
Responsibilities- Follow and enforce resort safety rules.
- Administer first aid and transportation as necessary.
- Handle toboggans and execute lift evacuation procedures.
- Perform trail checks, openings, and closings, and maintain hazard mitigation infrastructure.
- Complete incident reports and daily paperwork promptly.
- Monitor equipment inventory and report needs to hill captains.
- Dispatch patrollers and coordinate trail check rotations.
- Coordinate first aid responses and monitor rescue calls.
- Report weather and snow conditions, and conduct sweep procedures.
- Identify and respond to injured, lost, or hazardous skiers and snowboarders.
- Educate guests and provide resort information.
- Search for missing persons and participate in lift evacuations.
- Perform duties at races and other special events.
- Operate resort equipment according to policies and procedures.
- Dispose of waste in an environmentally sound manner.
- Support Sugarbush Vision and Values.
- Attend weekly Safety and Service Meetings.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent technical skiing skills.
- Emergency First Aid/OEC (Outdoor Emergency Care) or Vermont EMR, WFR, EMT, Paramedic certification, obtained prior to season (or ability to obtain). OEC certification required by end of second year of patrolling.
- CPR at rescuer level certification (or ability to obtain).
- Good reading and writing skills.
- Clear communication and ability to present points logically.
- Capable of skiing all terrain in all conditions.
- Customer service skills and respectful interaction with guests and staff.
- Ability to work under stressful outdoor conditions in any weather.
- Comfortable transporting injured persons in toboggans (on‑job training available).
- Awareness of potential exposure to hazardous human body fluids and chemicals used on the mountain.
