Aggregate Loader Operator; Aggregate Staging Yard and Crush Stone Quarry

Casella Construction is seeking an Aggregate Loader Operator to join our Aggregate Team in our Mendon Aggregate Yard and North Clarendon, VT Crush Stone Quarry. The Aggregate Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery to excavate, move, and grade earth, rock, and other materials within mining quarries, staging yards, and construction sites. They ensure the efficient and safe extraction and transportation of aggregate materials, conduct regular equipment maintenance, adhere to safety protocols, and collaborate with team members to complete projects on time.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience operating Loaders in a construction or mining environment, is a highly skilled and experienced equipment operator with a strong understanding of mining quarry operations, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and efficiency, eager to contribute to an innovative, industry-leading team.

Responsibilities:

• Operate excavators to perform various tasks such as digging, trenching, and loading materials.
• Conduct pre-operational checks and regular maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects on time and within specifications.
• Work closely with the yard and crushing teams to ensure smooth material flow and meet production targets.
• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and report issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and project plans to determine the best approach to excavation tasks.
• Monitor and control the quality of work performed, making adjustments as necessary.
• Train and mentor junior operators to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Work specifically within mining quarries to extract and transport aggregate materials efficiently and safely.
• Ensure compliance with mining regulations and environmental standards.
• Adapt to the unique challenges of quarry operations, including working with varying rock types and managing dust and noise levels.
• Assist with general site maintenance, including cleanup and material organization.
• Training requirements, both in person and online, as needed or required

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience operating excavators in a crushed stone quarry, construction or mining setting.
• Familiarity with aggregate materials and load-out procedures.
• Proven ability to operate various types of heavy equipment and attachments.
• Strong understanding of excavation techniques and safety practices is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and project plans.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
• MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) certification. (or willingness to obtain)
• OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a crushed stone quarry or similar aggregate operation
• Experience in Wielding and fabricating. (Is a plus)
• Operate a loader with load-rite scales in it.
• Basic knowledge of state specifications for Aggregates.
• Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or
  
  B)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, and climb inclines for the duration of the shift.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather.
