- Master's degree in speech therapy and language development
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrates teaching ability as well as skills in collaboration, team-building and inclusionary education.
- Knowledge of the letter and spirit of Act 230, IDEA, ADA, Section 504, and other pertinent laws.

SummaryThe Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for ensuring that speech and language services are provided to eligible students. The Speech Language Pathologist is both an instructional and a consulting teacher who provides support service to students and teachers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Diagnose and provide an educational program for students with language processing and/or speech disorders as defined by the Vermont Special Education regulations.
- Develop and implement I.E.P.'s and/or related service plans for assigned students.
- Instruct and guide students in accordance with their needs and abilities within the guidelines of the district curricula.
- Attend all meetings called by the Director of Special Education.
- Maintain necessary records and paperwork regarding individual students, programs and Medicaid requirements.
- Keep necessary records as directed by the principal or Director of Special Education.
- Initiate, encourage, and participate in student meetings, as needed with students, their teachers, parents, and outside agencies.
- Participate as a member of school based Educational Support Team as requested by administration.
- Conduct annual and other comprehensive student evaluations as required.
- Collaborate with other staff members and/or regional human resource groups in promoting an inclusionary service delivery model.
- Follow procedures outlined in the Vermont Special Education Regulations.
- Provide trainings and staff development to instructional aides and other staff members as needed.
- Assume other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
