Job Summary

This is a Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) position with the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Cases, delivers, and collects mail along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle; provides customers on the route with a variety of services.

$20.38 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

• Sort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
• Receive and sign for accountable mail.
• Load mail into vehicle.
• Deliver mail to customers along a prescribed route and on a regular schedule by vehicle; collect monies and receipts for accountable mail; pick up mail from customers’ roadside boxes.
• Sell stamps, stamped paper, and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcel post; furnish routine information concerning postal matters and provide requested forms to customer.
• Return mail collected, undeliverable mail, and submit monies and receipts to post office.
• Prepare mail for forwarding and maintain records of change of address information.
• Prepare a daily trip report and maintain a list of the customers on the route.
• Conduct special surveys when required.
• Maintain an inventory of stamps and stamped paper as needed to provide service to customers on the route.
• Provide for mail security at all times.

• Must be available to work on an as-needed basis.
• Driving required:
  Valid state driver’s license, safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger in the U.S., its possessions, territories, U.S. military installations worldwide.
• A personal vehicle suitable for use may be required for this position.
• Postal Service employment is conditional upon meeting medical suitability, general eligibility and suitability, and background check requirements.
• Desirable: candidate may be required to own a suitable vehicle and live within easy commuting distance of the facility location.
• Work is physically demanding; performed indoors and outdoors in all weather; may require loading/unloading trays and carriers up to 70 pounds.
