Schedule & Hours- Scheduled days:
Saturday, Sunday, and USPS-observed holidays as needed. - During the onboarding period, ARCs must be available for required training on weekdays.
- Hours:
Varied, paid bi‑weekly.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Safe driving record.
- At least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger in the U.S., its possessions or territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide.
- Personal vehicle suitable for use may be required.
Salary range: $20.38 per hour.
Functional PurposeUsing dynamic route descriptions, delivers packages on Sundays and observed holidays. May also deliver, collect mail and packages on Saturday along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle.
Duties and Responsibilities- Loads packages in delivery sequence into vehicle.
- Delivers packages to customers along a prescribed route.
- Sorts mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
- Receives and signs for accountable mail.
- Loads mail and packages into vehicle.
- Delivers mail and packages to customers along a prescribed route or as an auxiliary assistant; collects monies and receipts for accountable mail; picks up mail from customers' roadside boxes.
- Furnishes routine information concerning postal matters to customers.
- Returns mail collected, undeliverable mail, and submits monies and receipts to the post office.
- Prepares appropriate time records.
- Maintains mail security at all times.
- May need to provide own vehicle if an employer‑provided vehicle is not assigned. ARCs are non‑career employees who deliver and collect mail on a rural route.
- Desirable candidates should have a suitable vehicle and live within easy commuting distance of the facility. If required to provide own vehicle, ARCs receive an Equipment Maintenance Allowance (EMA).
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Carriers may be required to load and unload trays and containers of mail and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds.
