Rural Carrier Associate (RCAs) must be available to work on an as-needed basis.

Applicants must have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger. Driving must have taken place in the U.S., its territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide. A personal vehicle suitable for use may be required.

$20.38 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

Cases, delivers, and collects mail along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle; provides customers on the route with a variety of services.

• Sort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
• Receive and sign for accountable mail.
• Load mail into vehicle.
• Deliver mail to customers on a prescribed route and regular schedule; collect monies and receipts for accountable mail; pick up mail from customers’ roadside boxes.
• Sell stamps, stamped paper, money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcel post; provide routine information concerning postal matters and requested forms.
• Return mail collected, undeliverable mail, and submit monies and receipts to post office.
• Prepare mail for forwarding and maintain records of change of address information.
• Prepare a daily trip report and maintain a list of the customers on the route.
• Conduct special surveys when required.
• Maintain an inventory of stamps and stamped paper to provide service to customers.
• Provide mail security at all times.

Rural Carrier Associates are non-career employees who deliver and collect mail and sell stamps, supplies, and money orders. Desired candidates may need a suitable vehicle and live within easy commuting distance of the facility. The position is physically demanding, involving indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions and lifting up to 70 pounds. Work is typically on Saturdays, with additional shifts on an as-needed basis.
