Location: Florence

Casella Construction is looking for a Class A CDL Driver to join our transportation team in Pittsford, VT. The company has a strong safety record with millions of safe miles over the past year and an excellent DOT rating. This full‑time position requires a safety‑minded, positive self‑starter who will haul end dump trailers and earn competitive pay.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a large commercial vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  • Keep a clean working environment.
  • Operate commercial vehicles, including tractor‑trailers, box trucks, or other specified vehicles, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring that it is properly secured to prevent damage during transit.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, including driver logs, mileage, and delivery receipts.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, including hours‑of‑service requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and supervisors to provide updates on delivery status and address any issues or delays.
  • Follow company policies and procedures related to driver safety, performance, and conduct.
  • Participate in training, both in person and online, as needed or required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand‑eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and climb inclines for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
  • Can sit for long periods of time.
  • Safely bend over to visually inspect under the truck or trailer.
  • Safely climb the steps into the cab and out of the cab.
  • Safely enter the trailer via the manhole door in the front or a ladder over the side.
  • Lift the hoses to attach truck and trailer.
  • Lift and close the hood.
  • Shovel built‑up rock or snow from the body.
Qualifications
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Class A and appropriate endorsements.
  • Clean driving record with no history of major accidents or traffic violations.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all federal and state transportation regulations.
  • Ability to operate and maintain commercial vehicles safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing paperwork and logs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with dispatchers, customers, and team members.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy cargo as needed.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route‑planning software.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Commitment to safety for oneself and others on the road.
  • Experience with dump trailers preferred but not required.

Pay Structure

Paid by the load.
