Job Summary
The Office and Human Resources Administrator (OHRA) will contribute to VPIRG’s work by helping ensure a high functioning canvass office and team in a high‑paced, dynamic work environment. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Office Administration- Managing the timely collection of accurate and completion of HR paperwork for all staff.
- Conducting HR training for new staff and serving as a knowledgeable resource for VPIRG personnel policies.
- Maintaining orderly office systems and keeping track of office materials, order as needed.
- Providing other administrative assistance to the Director Team as needed.
- Initiating new member outreach, and introducing them to the organization.
- The OHRA office plays a unique and vital role within our canvass operations. As a trusted figure who operates independently of direct supervision over canvassers, the OHRA is essential in upholding a supportive and positive work environment. This role provides canvassers with a safe and reliable outlet to share feedback, navigate challenging days, and seek support from someone outside the directing team.
- Contributing to and helping to create a positive office culture of inclusion and understanding.
- Receiving, following up, and tracking any reports of incidents with particular attention to staff safety and wellbeing.
- Facilitating canvasser support in collaboration with the directing team as additional conversations and follow‑up become necessary.
- In addition to administrative responsibilities, there is opportunity for involvement in VPIRG’s full‑time campaign and advocacy work.

- Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Participating in outreach (tabling, event attendance, event promotion, etc.)
- Membership Engagement
- Creation and disbursement of materials
- Research for campaign development
This part‑time seasonal position is based out of VPIRG’s Burlington office located in the Old North End at 294 N. Winooski Ave. The OHRA must be able to work in‑person from Monday‑Thursday between 10 am‑2 pm. The remaining hours of the week may be done in person, or on a hybrid schedule, after conversation with supervisors. Hours will increase, or decrease based on the workload and campaign involvement.
Minimum hours 20 week; maximum hours 30 week. The start date is semi‑flexible based on candidate availability, ideally with training and some hours beginning in late April. Candidate must start by mid‑May at the latest. The canvass operation and this position are scheduled to end Friday, August 21, but an earlier date could be arranged if needed. This position pays $17.25‑$19 and will be commensurate with your experience.
Ability to communicate in a friendly, mature, and professional manner; flexible, and calm under pressure; attention to detail and aptitude for office systems; proficient in Microsoft Excel. Canvassing/grassroots organizing or human resources/social work experience preferred.
