Job DescriptionBurke Town School, serving children in PreK- grade 8, announces the hiring of an elementary teacher. Burke Town School offers a highly collaborative, student-centered environment. Our campus environment allows plenty of opportunity for outdoor and experiential education, project-based learning, and a development of a sense of place. Experience with Responsive Classroom, Zones of Regulation, and PBIS is a plus, but not necessary.
Knowledge of structured literacy instruction, UFLI, Bridges math program, workshop model, and a focus on data driven decision making, partnered with strong relationship building skills and classroom management desired. Our aim is to be academically rigorous, while building a community based in mutual respect and care.
Burke Town School is part of the Kingdom East School District, located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have “choice” and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing.
We are located about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Both Littleton, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT have numerous fine and performing arts venues. Our communities attract wholesome families, faculty and staff.
