Special Education Teacher – Bellows Falls Middle School
At Bellows Falls Middle School, WNESU seeks a Special Education Teacher for the 2026‑27 school year. The teacher will provide direct instruction and case management for classroom students (grades 5‑8) who have IEPs.
Responsibilities- Provide direct, high‑quality instructional services in reading and math tailored to IEP goals.
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with multiple disabilities.
- Collect, interpret, and use student assessment data to adjust instruction and inform teacher teams.
- Provide case management, including IEP planning and collaboration with general education teachers on inclusive practices and universal design for learning.
- Implement trauma‑informed approach to support students’ social‑emotional needs and foster full potential.
- Potentially engage in co‑teaching model with general education teachers, supporting inclusive classroom instruction.
- Collaborate with general education staff, administrators, related service providers and families to provide consistent support and align instruction.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) preferred, but certification in Special Education required.
- Certification (or eligibility for certification) in Special Education from the Vermont AOE.
- Experience in providing intervention services and collaborating with general education teachers.
- Experience in specialized instruction in reading, math, and use of diagnostic tools.
- Experience or familiarity with co‑teaching and collaborative instructional models.
- Evidence of trauma‑informed practice.
- Proficiency in using the Google Workspace platform is a plus.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- US citizenship, residency, or work authorization required.
- Preferably at least 2 years of relevant special education teaching experience.
Salary range: $50,000 to $86,242 per year, commensurate with experience. Benefits and working conditions pursuant to the WNESU Master Agreement between the Board and the Association.
