Job Title: Early Childhood Paraprofessional
Location: Westminster Station, Vermont

Job DescriptionWNESU is seeking experienced Early Childhood Paraprofessionals for our high‑quality, well‑supported public preschool classrooms.
Qualifications- Preferred applicants have two years of college level education, preferably in early childhood or elementary education, or completed twenty‑one college credit hours with an education focus.
- Meet at least one of the following:
1) Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three (3) Certificate;
2) Associate degree from an accredited college with a major in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Services and at least twelve months experience working with children grade 3 or younger;
3) Certificate of Completion from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program;
4) Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont and at least twelve months experience working with children grade 3 or younger;
5) Successful completion of twenty‑one college credits with an early childhood or school age focus and at least twelve months experience working with children grade 3 or younger. - Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and establish positive rapport with children and teachers.
- Demonstrated ability to assess crisis situations and respond to defuse or mitigate such situations.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by certified staff.
- Assist certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on an understanding of individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Implement behavior management techniques in accordance with the teacher’s plan.
- Serve as the chief source of information and help to any guest teacher assigned in the absence of the regular certified staff.
- Alert certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Perform assigned supervision of students, ensuring children are safe, following rules, developing problem‑solving skills and independence, and communicating with adults regarding their interactions at school.
- Attend seminars, trainings, and informational meetings relating to early education as requested, including completing fifteen hours of annual professional development as required by Vermont child‑care licensing regulations.
- Meet daily with an Early Education Teacher to assure coordination and communication regarding children in the program.
- Enter data into the online observational assessment system.
- Demonstrate flexibility and versatility in meeting program and child/family needs.
- Execute responsibilities efficiently and in an organized manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Early Education Teacher.

Non‑exempt. Employment governed by the Master Agreement.
Performance evaluated and goals set annually by the Early Education Program Principal in accordance with responsibilities outlined above.
