The Kingdom East School District seeks a licensed (or eligible) special educator and coordinator assigned to the Lyndon Town School. This position provides direct instruction to students and consultation to classroom teachers serving learners with special needs. In addition to the special educator role, this position provides leadership in the facilitation and development of effective individualized education programs (IEPs) and the coordination of related services designed to support student growth and achievement.
Essentially, the coordinator part of this position will be a leadership role at LTS and is dependent on the candidate’s knowledge and skills. The position requires applicants to possess a thorough understanding of special education law, cognitive/social emotional development, IEP development and classroom interventions within a tiered system of supportive instruction. The Lyndon Town School is team-oriented and operates under a Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills are also required.
The pay range for this position is currently $44,232-$86,232.
The Lyndon Town School is part of the Kingdom East School District and is located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have "choice" and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St.
Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing.
We are located about 3 hours from Boston, Montreal and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Both Littleton, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT have numerous fine and performing arts venues.
