Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Town of Vermont
The Company is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Applications Engineer to bridge engineering and commercial execution, ensuring customers succeed in deploying advanced polymer additive manufacturing solutions.
This is a hands-on, multidisciplinary role at the intersection of large-format additive manufacturing, thermoplastics, robotics, and process engineering. You will own customer applications from concept through production readiness, translating customer requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes using our proprietary technology.
This role is for those who thrive at the intersection of engineering, thermoplastics, robotics and customer innovation, helping designers and manufacturers transform how things are made.
Key Responsibilities- Own customer application development from concept through production deployment, serving as the technical lead for customer application success.
- Partner with Sales, Engineering, and Customers to define, test, quote, and deliver customer-specific additive manufacturing solutions.
- Define, standardize, and maintain polymer AM processes; author SOPs/work instructions; release processes via the QMS. Establish SPC and process capability (Cp/Cpk) metrics to drive data-based optimization
- Develop and validate print parameters and post-processing workflows; troubleshoot failures; implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct proof-of-process trials, system demonstrations, and customer training, both in-house and onsite.
- Design and integrate robotic and automated manufacturing workflows to ensure reliable, repeatable, and scalable production.
- 3–5+ years in manufacturing/process engineering with polymer AM exposure.
- Hands-on experience with robotic integration and control systems (ABB, Fanuc, Staubli, Kuka, UR) and/or large-format 3D printing.
- Demonstrated use of slicing/toolpath tools; understanding of thermoplastic process parameters and their impact on quality.
- Proficiency in problem-solving and statistical methods (SPC, Pareto, 8D); able to communicate results cross-functionally.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, capable of understanding both system design and end-use performance.
- Excellent communication and project leadership skills across technical and customer-facing teams.
- Willingness to travel (20% of time) for onsite work, installations, and customer collaboration.
