Aerospace / Aviation / Avionics, Systems Engineer
Industry: Electric Aviation / Advanced Aircraft Systems
Location: United States
This role sits within a propulsion-focused systems engineering and certification programme supporting the development of next-generation electric aircraft platforms.
The position is not limited to isolated component work. The team is responsible for defining, managing, and validating aircraft-, system-, and propulsion-level requirements, ensuring clear architecture definition and compliance across safety, certification, and engineering organisations.
The programme includes development of propulsion systems across multiple aircraft types and certification paths, including advanced electric propulsion and unmanned platforms. Technically, this is a multidisciplinary systems role suited to engineers who want ownership across requirements, safety, and certification rather than remaining within a single technical silo.
Responsibilities- Develop aircraft-, propulsion-, and component-level requirements including definition, traceability, validation, and compliance demonstration
- Support generation and refinement of system architectures ensuring alignment with aircraft safety, certification, and customer requirements
- Manage requirements within lifecycle management environments, maintaining clarity, structure, and traceability across programme stakeholders
- Contribute to propulsion system verification planning including coordination of laboratory, ground, and flight test activities
- Support execution of testing campaigns and work with engineering teams to ensure requirements are validated through structured evidence
- Provide design feedback related to safety, certification compliance, and verification strategy throughout the development lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with systems engineers, certification specialists, safety engineers, and design teams across propulsion programmes
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline relevant to aerospace systems development
- Experience working on certified aircraft programmes or comparable safety-critical systems within regulated industries
- Strong understanding of requirements development, validation, and compliance demonstration within structured systems engineering processes
- Familiarity with lifecycle management tools and requirement workflows within enterprise ALM environments
- Working knowledge of aircraft certification processes, safety assessments, and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Clear communication skills with the ability to operate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering and certification teams
- Experience supporting Part 23, rotorcraft, propulsion certification, or equivalent regulated aerospace programmes
- Familiarity with systems safety processes including Functional Hazard Assessment, Fault Tree Analysis, or FMEA methodologies
- Knowledge of aerospace certification guidance, standards, and regulatory frameworks used in aircraft or propulsion development
- Experience supporting electric propulsion, unmanned aircraft, or advanced aircraft development programmes
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as CATIA, Solid Works, or equivalent CAD environments
- Exposure to requirements and lifecycle platforms such as Polarion or comparable ALM systems
- Experience working with analysis or simulation tools such as ANSYS or equivalent engineering software
