Lead all Epidemiology activities, including creation and execution of Epidemiology plans, for the Bureau of Chronic Disease and Prevention and Healthcare Access (BCDPHA)/Well-Ahead Louisiana program areas in accordance with predetermined timelines and deadlines. Creates and maintains database to track program implementation progress and report activity status to appropriate grant manager(s). Monitors activity efficiency, efficacy, barriers, and facilitators and report findings and recommendations to appropriate grant manager(s).
Participates in grant related meetings and trainings. Advises the grant manager(s) and relevant stakeholders on the interpretation of epidemiology results and implications for program planning. Disseminates program accomplishments and epidemiology findings to stakeholders via reports, impact statements, presentations, and appropriate data visualizations. Evaluates health equity in programmatic work and ensures best practices are implemented. Presents epidemiology work at a professional conference and/or submits a manuscript for publication in a relevant academic journal.
Engages in special projects conducted by the surveillance and epidemiology team. Collaborates with partners, external stakeholders, and relevant coalitions on special projects. Engages with communications team to produce creative, innovative, and accurate ways to illustrate surveillance and epidemiologist results. May attend out of state meetings and conferences as necessary. Participates in grant planning meetings for upcoming grant opportunities. Develops epidemiologist plans and logic models to accompany grant applications that meet the requirements outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity.

- Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
- Minimum 3 years professional practical experience in data analytics/analysis.
- Minimum 2 years professional experience utilizing advanced statistical packages, geographic mapping software, or other data visualization software.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Excellent analytical skills, effective organizational and time management skills.
- Great attention to detail and follow up.
- Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.
- Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Advanced degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, computer science, or relevant field.
- Minimum 4 years professional experience in data analytics/analysis.
- Minimum 3 years professional experience utilizing advanced statistical packages, geographic mapping software, or other data visualization software.
- Minimum 1 year professional experience with quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods for public health programs.
- Minimum 1 year professional experience as an Epidemiologist or similar role.
