Direct Support Professional

Developmental Services of Jackson County

• Experience working with individuals with IDD preferred but not required (training provided)
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (if transporting individuals)
• Ability to pass background checks and required screenings
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as required throughout the shift
• Ability to assist individuals with mobility as needed

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential and/or day service settings. DSPs assist individuals with daily living skills, personal care, community integration, and goal achievement while promoting independence, dignity, and choice.

• Support individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and housekeeping
• Assist with skill-building goals such as communication, social skills, self-advocacy, and independence
• Facilitate community outings, recreational activities, and meaningful day programming
• Provide medication assistance in accordance with agency policy and training
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment at all times
• Follow individual service plans, behavior support plans, and person-centered practices
• Accurately document services provided, progress notes, and incident reports
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, families, and case managers
• Uphold confidentiality, client rights, and all state and agency regulations
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and behavioral situations using approved techniques

All start out at $15.00 an hour with a .50 raise after 90 Days.
