Location: Town of Vermont

Manager EHS

Key responsibilities:

  • - Manage development, coordination, and maintenance of environmental, health & safety (EHS) policies, procedures, programs, and plant safety programs in accordance with Federal/State/Local codes and corporate policies; submit required regulatory reports.
  • - Maintain documentation of and investigate workplace injuries and illnesses; investigate incidents/accidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective/preventive actions; evaluate trends and follow-up; suggest equipment/process/facility changes to improve safety.
  • - Coordinate data for release evaluation and assessment for source reduction, pollution prevention, and regulatory reporting; consult regulatory agencies and consultants; oversee controlled waste and hazardous waste programs (inventories, pickups, waste streams, documentation/log books, state reporting).
  • - Ensure proper management of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes for environmental compliance; guide Haz-Mat/Dangerous Goods packaging, labeling, and shipping procedures.
  • - Observe worker PPE use; conduct testing of work areas for noise and toxic substances; advise personnel on problems, corrective actions, solutions, and compliance.
  • - Chair the site Safety Council and coordinate EHS direction/strategy with site senior leadership.
  • - Develop and conduct safety training (ergonomics, confined spaces, lockout/tagout, PPE, fire extinguisher, hazard communication, etc.); provide EHS orientation for employees and contractors.
  • - Develop/maintain API handling procedures and training; coordinate value-based safety training/incentive program; oversee industrial hygiene (air sampling and air monitoring documentation).
  • - Assist with workers’ compensation administration; investigate incidents for root cause and recommend/implement solutions; direct and participate in monthly meetings with NA EHS, site personnel, and corporate contracted resources.
Minimum qualifications:
  • - Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Safety/Environmental; 3–5 years relevant EHS experience. Master’s preferred with 1–3 years experience.
  • - Advanced knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, and IATA regulations; knowledge of company/department policies and SOPs, FDA regulations, and cGMPs.
  • - RCRA certified; DOT Haz Mat certification; 40 hours Haz Mat training.
