Vermont State University (VTSU) invites applications for a part-time clinical instructor position to support simulation instruction in its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Working collaboratively with nursing faculty to achieve learning outcomes, the Clinical Instructor facilitates student learning and supports the integration of nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, and professional practice behaviors across a variety of healthcare and educational settings.
The Clinical Instructor serves as an educator, role model, mentor, and liaison between Vermont State University and affiliated healthcare agencies, promoting a positive and effective learning environment that supports students' success, patient safety, and professional growth.
The Clinical Instructor provides instruction and facilitation for nursing students participating in simulation-based learning experiences. The Clinical Instructor assists students in applying concepts learned in the classroom to realistic patient care scenarios that promote clinical reasoning, clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and evidence-based nursing practice. The Clinical Instructor serves as a mentor and role model while fostering a safe learning environment that supports student growth and professional development.
** Clinical Instructor Responsibilities**:
This position supports a senior-level Clinical Judgment course that builds upon nursing knowledge gained in prior adult health nursing courses. Through simulation experiences, students synthesize assessment findings and clinical data to identify health priorities, develop plans of care, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes. The Clinical Instructor guides students through these experiences while promoting the development of sound clinical judgment and person-centered care.

* Responsibilities include:
*** ## Facilitate weekly simulation experiences for prelicensure nursing students.* ## Guide students in applying the nursing process and clinical judgment during simulation activities.* ## Conduct pre-briefing sessions that establish psychological safety and learning expectations.* ## Facilitate reflective debriefing discussions that promote self-assessment, clinical reasoning, and professional growth.* ## Evaluate student performance according to established course objectives and program standards.* ## Provide timely and constructive feedback regarding student performance.
* ## Collaborate with course faculty and simulation personnel to ensure consistency of learning experiences.* ## Promote evidence-based practice, patient safety, teamwork, communication, and person-centered care.* ## Serve as a professional role model and mentor for nursing students.* ## Maintain required documentation and evaluation records in accordance with program policies.* ## Participate in faculty development and course meetings as appropriate.## ##
Minimum Qualifications:
* ## Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Candidates with a BSN who enroll in an MSN program and are projected to finish within 3 years will be considered.* ## A current, unencumbered Registered Nursing license in each state where instructional responsibilities will occur.* ## Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.* ## Experience in clinical instruction and simulation-based training are preferred.
* ## Knowledge of clinical judgment frameworks, evidence-based practice, and NCLEX preparation.* ## Recent clinical practice in a setting associated with the position you are applying for.* ## Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and interdisciplinary teams.
Rate:$55.00/hr (BSN degree)$62.00/hr (MSN degree)
Hours per week are variable.
