The College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Vermont is seeking candidates for a position at the rank of Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor based on preparation. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications. This unique role requires candidates to practice as an APRN within our Appletree Bay Primary Care Faculty Practice while precepting nurse practitioner students, instructing in the classroom setting, as well as engage in University service, and Scholarship.

Nurse Practitioner / Clinical Faculty needed to participate in teaching and patient care with students at the UVM Nursing and Health Sciences Faculty Practice and the UVM campus. Position provides an opportunity for teaching and managing a panel of primary care patients.

Minimum qualifications for this position include:

  • Have or be eligible for an unencumbered Vermont APRN license
  • A master’s degree in nursing
  • A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the values of Our Common Ground (Openness, Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Innovation, and Justice)

Additional considerations (preferred) include:

  • One or more year’s experience in nursing education
  • One or more year’s experience in adult primary care
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field
  • Active involvement in regional and/or national professional organizations

The College

The Department of Nursing is an important part of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, home to approximately 1200 students in eight different health professions, comprising seven undergraduate and six graduate degree programs including an interdisciplinary PhD. The College is committed to inter-professional collaboration in research, education, and practice. We are part of an academic health sciences center including Vermont’s tertiary care hospital, the University of Vermont Medical Center ( UVMMC );

the Larner College of Medicine; and a state‑of‑the‑art interdisciplinary clinical simulation laboratory, all situated on or next to the University campus. There is also an established nurse practitioner faculty practice nearby that is a certified medical home and serves as a primary care practice and training site for our nurse practitioners.

The Department

The successful candidate will contribute to a growing portfolio of research, scholarship, and clinical excellence in the Department of Nursing. The candidate will join a department of 37 full‑time and 40 part‑time clinical faculty, over 500 undergraduate students, and over 100 graduate students. The department offers an undergraduate BS program as well as a Clinical Nurse Leader master’s degree program and a Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ) program with a direct entry option.
