Rutland Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist to lead education and professional growth for our nursing staff. In this community-focused, patient-centered environment, you will assess learning needs, design and deliver evidence-based education, coordinate onboarding and competency validation, and support certification and career advancement. Collaborating with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams, you will promote a culture of continuous learning, quality, and safety while advancing clinical excellence and supporting high-quality, compassionate care for our region.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and evaluate nursing education programs aligned with evidence-based practice and organizational goals
- Assess learning needs of nursing staff and develop individualized and unit-based development plans
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and competency validation for new and existing nursing staff
- Facilitate classroom, simulation, and bedside education to support clinical skill development and best practices
- Collaborate with nursing leadership, educators, and interdisciplinary teams to support quality and safety initiatives
- Use data, feedback, and outcomes to continuously improve education programs and professional development offerings
- Support certification preparation, career advancement pathways, and continuing education for nursing staff
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards in all educational activities
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor, promoting a culture of learning, inquiry, and professional growth
- Participate in committee work, projects, and system-wide initiatives related to education and practice excellence
- Clinical nursing expertise in acute care environment
- Curriculum design and educational program development
- Adult learning theory and instructional design
- Competency assessment and skills validation
- Classroom and simulation-based teaching
- Data collection, analysis, and outcomes evaluation
- Learning management system (LMS) proficiency
- Regulatory and accreditation standards knowledge (e.g., Joint Commission)
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills
