Summary
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for achieving long-term sales growth, margins, and profitability in their assigned territory/defined customer base. Success is achieved by technical sales support, sales lead generation, and general business development for the territory and other select accounts, as required.
Territory- RI, CT, VT & Western MA
- Provides in-person sales coverage of an assigned territory, requiring the use of a personal vehicle.
- Develops maximum sales potential out of assigned territory through competitive sales techniques and knowledge of the company's products and services, as well as the competition's strengths/weaknesses.
- Builds and maintains quality relations with existing assigned accounts and grows account base and volume of sales consistently.
- Contact customers via telephone, correspondence, or in person by traveling as frequently as necessary to meet and surpass profitable sales goals for the company.
- Creates customized proposals to meet specific customer requirements in an efficient manner.
- Manages profit margins within company guidelines.
- Receives and resolves customer requests promptly.
- Utilizes company leads to expand the current customer base and follows up on all leads promptly.
- Maintains updated, organized files on all accounts in the assigned territory.
- Completes and submits sales reports on account activity.
- Provides monthly documentation with outstanding proposals, proposals secured, and proposals lost.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal and selling skills with a strong emphasis on value-based sales.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to develop strong technical knowledge of company products.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal, writing, and reading skills, with the ability to communicate on all levels.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
- Discipline to be a self-starter and work independently.
- Strong work ethic.
- Awareness and sensitivity to deadlines.
- Working knowledge of a geographic area.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
The Outside Sales Representative travels regularly to customer locations to perform sales responsibilities and problem-solving. Some overnight travel may be required. Daily trips are expected to manage a successful territory.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, lift up to 25 pounds, and drive for long periods of time and distance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
Exposure to high levels of heat or noise may occur while visiting the customer's plant environment. Moderate noise (i.e., computer printers, traffic) exists daily in the work environment.
