$28.91 - $43.37 an Hour Depending on Experience.

Position Summary:

Installs and repairs residential and commercial propane and/or oil burner equipment and appliances while ensuring a high level of customer service. The responsibilities of this position are carried out with particular attention to maintaining customer property and working as a trusted advisor. The Service Technician serves as a Dead River Company ambassador by adhering to our Brand Promise.

Essential Functions:
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair oil and/or propane heating equipment and appliances in accordance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Perform efficiency tests, tune-ups, and service inspections.
  • Eliminates callbacks and reduces liability by ensuring that all work is performed safely and accurately.
  • Promotes image as a trusted advisor through a neat appearance, clean uniform and timely, safe, and ensures high level of customer service.
  • Promotes Dead River company products and services. Advises customers on best options for specific needs.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly service vehicle. Ensures that all tools and equipment are in safe operating condition.
  • Immediately records and reports parts and labor for service calls in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintains and tracks parts inventories in service vehicle.
  • Participate in night and weekend on-call schedule, as necessary.
  • Perform propane gas-check inspections according to applicable codes and company policy without supervision.
  • May perform HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work as required by market.
  • Assists in the training of apprentices and journeymen.

Experience:
  • Successful completion of oil burner and or propane training course or CETP/PEP program desired; training and education provided.
  • Must have three or more years of relevant oil and/or propane service experience.
Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical school training is preferred.

Certification and Licensing:
  • Must possess a valid Vermont Oil Burning Equipment Installer certification appropriate to the work performed.
  • Must possess applicable Vermont LP Gas Installer certification for propane installation, inspection, service, and repair.
  • NORA Certification preferred/required as applicable to the Vermont oil certification.
  • Applicable CETP/PEP training required for propane work.
  • Must maintain required Vermont continuing education and certification requirements.
  • HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, wiring and/or plumbing are considered an asset.
  • Universal 608 EPA certification for AC/Refrigeration/Heat Pumps is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Must have a valid motor vehicle drivers’ license. Driving record is reviewed at employment, and annually thereafter, and must meet company standards. CDL is not required, but it is preferred.
