OverviewThe Economic Services Division (ESD) is responsible for the administration of benefits to help Vermonters meet their basic needs. ESD is one of six divisions under the Department for Children and Families (DCF) and is a part of the Agency of Human Services.
This position is located in the Hartford district office, known for teamwork, strong community partnerships, and office camaraderie.
Responsibilities- Determine eligibility of applicants for benefits and provide timely and accurate benefits.
- Apply program rules to complex and dynamic situations.
- Assist customers over the phone and in-person in a busy work environment.
- Handle interactions with applicants who may be distraught, emotional, angry, frustrated, or otherwise in a heightened emotional state.
- Work effectively as part of a team and support coworkers.
- Learn and use new technology as required.
- Two (2) years or more experience in a customer service environment that included regular use of computer programs, clerical work, and data entry; OR
- Bachelor's degree in a human services or financial field.
